Today marks 40 years that my Mom and Dad have been married. It's natural to me, to think of them together as that's all I've ever known. They've technically been together for 45 years. They dated for five before getting married.
They went through her finishing high school, him being in Vietnam for two tours (I think), moving away from all family to find work (after the steel mills closed in Pa.), and being pretty destitute for many years after all that. They've shown what it means to stay together "through thick and thin" and been pretty good role models.
Suffice it to say I'm pretty proud of them. What an accomplishment on their part. The greatest part is: they're still in love. They still want to be together, spend their todays and tomorrows together. You can tell it by looking at them. I'm happy for them that they have that.
Happy Day Mom and Dad. I love you.
