Homegrown Melonheads

Hey, what a weekend! Sorry it's been a while--we've been playing and then playing some more. Today we started Vacation Bobby School at Spotsy Presbyterian (our beloved church) and we all had a great time.
Afterward, we went to our friends Donnie and Steffani's house to meet the new little Sophia Marie. She was just so sweet I could squeeze her. She has little rolls and she's just perfect. It's just as I wrote the other day about feeling so thankful for our children. Stef just kept saying, "I can't believe she's mine". Madison and Emma were all about holding her and checking her out. As you can see in the photos, Mason is nowhere to be seen. He was out on the Dusty Trail with Donnie, DJ, and Joey! Trucks, tractors, Gators and Skidsteers...who needs another girl!?!

Once we got home and took a little breather here and had some dinner, Nannie called and invited us up for some homegrown watermelon. This was the first of the summer and boy was it pretty tasty! Emma ate most of it I believe. I'd almost go to Atlantic City Mark Marshall on the fact that I'll be changing peed sheets in the morning from little Miss Emma Grace. Granddaddy has his rituals of "cuttin' the watermelon" so I just sit back and let him serve them. Again, a good time was had by all. Even Gracie... We've all been picking tomatoes but I have yet to get some good shots of that. That's a sight to take in. It's quite bittersweet for me as I don't have my "Green Hornet" with us when we make our treks to the tomato patch. Sandy our sweet yellow lab could always be found with or without us, picking tomatoes and filling her belly. She would emerge from the plants with the yellowish green dust from the blooms all over her face and head-hence the Green Hornet. Lord, I miss her face.

My Paw Paw used to plant homegrown tomatoes for me. I'd sit in the pasture (ie the garden) and eat them until I was sick!
