Moms in Touch International

I've contemplated this for over a year now. It's been in the back of my mind. I've known it would come one day, since the children would be in school, life's issues would face them. We can't physically protect them forever.

When I was teaching full time, before having my babies, my friend Lynn was the leader of the Moms in Touch group at Riverview. We teachers would find notes in our boxes signed "Moms in Touch", they'd have muffins and juice for us, whisper "we're praying for you and the school", etc. As a christian in a public school I was shocked but exhilarated! We were in Bible study together and she finally explained that it was basically a group of moms who pray for their children in that school, the teachers and staff, and any issues of the school. They met weekly for an hour, as a small group, in an impromptu way, with a small set of guidelines, to keep them to the task of praying for the matters at hand.

Fast forward six years to this morning and I had my first Moms in Touch prayer meeting for Robert E. Lee Elementary (the twins), Riverview Elem. (Emma), and Massaponnax High School (Blair, Lynn's daughter). So, if you know of any specific needs at those schools, please let me know and we'll put them on our prayer list! Her son DJ is a sophomore at JMU and she shared many instances where her involvement with her small groups, prayer, and relationship with God led her through parenting him thus far. Truth knows we can't do it on our own!

By the way, don't forget September 24th is the national See You at the Pole morning. This is student initiated prayer at the flagpole of the school, first thing in the morning. Go to http://www.syatp.com/ I think. If not, try org. Those of you in FAMOMC whose kids just started kindergarten, check with the PTA or front office to see if anyone else is participating. Chances are, staff is waiting on a student or parent to say something. You could just always be out there around 7:50 and be bold! Circle up and start praying. That's what I did with the kids last year. I spread the word a couple days ahead of time and we had @ 25-30 people there I think!

...The longer you live a life of prayer, the more answers to prayer you will experience. As white snowflakes fall quietly and thickly on a winter's day, answers to prayer will settle down on you at every step you take, even to your dying day. Every prayer and every sigh which you have uttered for (your children) and their future welfare will, in God's time, descend upon them as a gentle rain of answers to prayers." O. Hallesby
